Mobile App Development

For teams building an iOS and Android app that has to work for people in the field, on the road or with a weak signal.

The problem

Does this sound familiar?

Your users are not at a desk. They have one hand free, a weak signal and no patience for a spinner. The last app lost an entry when the connection dropped, and half your users never installed the update. Mobile app development has to start from those conditions, not from the screenshots in a pitch deck.

What is included

Cross-platform mobile app development, built for real conditions

  1. 01

    Cross-platform or native build

One codebase covers iOS and Android for most products. When a feature needs deep hardware access, we build that part natively in Kotlin or Swift.

  2. 02

    Offline-first storage and sync

Offline-first mobile app development means data is saved on the device first and synced in the background. Conflicts follow rules you approve, so nobody in the field has to arbitrate.

  3. 03

    One-handed capture flows

Task, photo and signature capture is designed for glare, gloves and one free hand, because that is how the app is actually used.

  4. 04

    Device and OS test matrix

We test on real mid-range devices and on the OS versions your users run, not only on the newest phone in the office.

  5. 05

    Push messaging and background work

Notifications and background syncs arrive when they should and respect the battery, with controls users can understand.

  6. 06

    Store release support

Listing assets, review submissions, staged rollouts and update prompts are set up early, so shipping an update is routine.

Project types

React Native app development for field, logistics and customer apps

Field service and inspection apps

Checklists, photos and signatures captured offline and synced when the signal returns, with an honest status for every queued item.

Companion apps for web platforms

A mobile client for the product your customers already use on the web, sharing the same API and accounts.

Logistics and delivery

Job lists, proof of delivery and status updates for crews who are moving all day.

Customer-facing apps

Accounts, bookings or orders, with notifications people can control and a design that follows platform conventions.

Our process

How a mobile app development engagement runs

  1. 01

    Understand

We watch or walk through how the work happens today, including the places with no signal, and record the constraints. Typical time: about 1 week.

  2. 02

    Plan

We choose cross-platform or native per feature, define the sync rules and agree the release order. Typical time: 1 week.

  3. 03

    Design

Screens are designed for one-handed use, with platform conventions on both iOS and Android. Typical time: 2 to 3 weeks.

  4. 04

    Build

Short cycles produce builds you install on your own phone through internal testing channels. Typical time: 6 to 14 weeks.

  5. 05

    Validate

Device matrix testing, offline and flaky-network scenarios, and an accessibility pass before store submission. Typical time: 2 weeks.

  6. 06

    Launch & Improve

Store submission, staged rollout and crash monitoring, then updates based on how people actually use it. Typical time: 1 to 2 weeks, then ongoing.

Technology

What we use for mobile app development

React Native
Shares one codebase across iOS and Android and lets web developers contribute, which lowers long-term cost.
Kotlin and Swift
Used for features that need native platform APIs, so a cross-platform app does not hit a ceiling.
Local database with background sync
Keeps the app useful offline and makes sync behavior predictable and testable.
Node.js API
A single API serves the mobile app and the web product, so the two never disagree about the data.
Timeline and engagement

Typical timelines and ways to work together

Mobile timelines depend on the number of screens, how much works offline and whether native features are involved. These are typical ranges, confirmed in your written estimate.

  • Focused app with one core workflow

    Roughly 2 to 3 months

  • App with offline sync and a backend

    Roughly 4 to 6 months

  • Multi-role app with several integrations

Scoped in phases, with the first store release defined in the plan

Fixed-scope project

Well-defined builds with a clear finish line

A defined outcome, an agreed timeline and a fixed commercial envelope, with change requests handled explicitly.

  • Written scope and acceptance criteria
  • Milestone-based delivery
  • Handover package included

Dedicated team

Ongoing product work and long roadmaps

A consistent group working to your priorities, integrated with your rituals, planning and tooling.

  • Stable, named team members
  • Your backlog, your priorities
  • Monthly capacity, reviewed openly

Every project is different. Contact us with an outline of yours and we will send a project-specific estimate. Start the conversation.

Questions

Mobile App Development FAQs

Should we build a native app or a cross-platform app?

For most products, cross-platform mobile app development is the better start: one team, one codebase and faster updates on both platforms. We recommend native code when a feature depends on platform-specific hardware or performance. Often the answer is a mix, with the bulk shared and a few native modules. We explain the trade-offs for your product before you commit.

What does offline-first mean for my app?

It means the app saves every action on the device first and sends it to the server when a connection is available. Users can keep working with no signal. We define how conflicts are resolved, for example when two people edit the same record, and show clear sync states so nobody wonders whether their work was saved.

Can you build both iOS and Android apps?

Yes. A single React Native codebase normally targets both, and we add native Kotlin or Swift modules where a feature needs them. We test on real devices for both platforms and handle the App Store and Google Play submissions, including listing assets and review feedback. You also get a written release checklist, so future updates do not depend on anyone remembering the steps.

Will the app work with our existing web platform?

Yes. If you already have a web product, we build the mobile app against the same API so accounts, permissions and data stay consistent. If the API is missing endpoints the app needs, we add them and document them. We start by reviewing what exists before proposing any changes. The same accounts and permissions then work across web and mobile.

How long does mobile app development take?

A focused app with one core workflow usually takes a few months. Apps with offline sync, a new backend or several user roles take longer. App store review adds a few days to the end. Because we build in short cycles, you can install working builds early and judge progress on a real phone.

Who handles app store submissions and updates?

We prepare the listing, screenshots, privacy details and builds, and submit them from developer accounts that belong to you. After launch we can handle updates on an agreed schedule, or hand the release process to your team with written steps. Staged rollouts let us release to a small group first.

Do we need a mobile app, or is a mobile-friendly website enough?

If people mainly read content or place occasional orders, a good mobile website may be enough. An app earns its cost when you need offline use, camera or location access, reliable push notifications or a faster daily workflow. We help you decide before you commit, and sometimes the answer is to start with the website.

How do you keep a mobile app secure?

Sensitive data is encrypted on the device and in transit, sign-in uses established standards, and the server checks permissions on every request instead of trusting the app. We keep secrets out of the app bundle, review third-party libraries and patch them regularly. Before release we run a security check against common mobile risks.
